Personal details

Caroline Mbirua is a Kenyan born artist from Kajiado District. She is a freelance journalist whose artistic talents were moulded by Kuona Trust at the National Museum of Kenya. She is both a painter and sculptor and paints using oils, acrylic, pastel and water colours, while her sculptures are done in wood and stone. Her specialization in painting is centred around the culture of the Kenyan people. 


Caroline’s interest in art started in 1992 when she joined Creative Art Centre in Nairobi and there she did a three year diploma in fine arts after which she graduated in 1995. From there she worked at an art and craft company called Kaki creations in Nairobi. She then joined other fine artists, graphic designers, sculptors, welders and batik artists at Kuona Trust.
Her talent has gradually developed and improved and she has managed to successfully hold several group exhibitions in and around Nairobi over the years. Currently based at the GoDown art centre Nairobi, Kuona Trust artists studios.
