The Murumbi Memorial Park has been Elkana Ongesa’s studio for the past 5 months.

The 3 ton sculpture gets the master’s touch as assistant looks on

Birds seem to emerge from all corners of this granite rock that Elkana has chosen to work with.

Elkana has choosen to leave some of the natural textures of the rock intact

Definite lines and edges reveal the ultimate outline of the sculpture

The artist uses voids to create a 2 dimension effect on his work

Contours in their varied forms are consistent in the sculpture

With his skill Elkana has revealed various shades of greys and black on the granite rock

Both low and flat plains show the simplicity used in defining the sculpture

With only one week to finish, Elkana is optimistic that the bird of peace will be a welcoming site to visitors at the Memorial Park
